    Responsibilities

    As an integral part of the core development team, your job is to collaborate on the design and implementation of the core platform: a distributed, multi-tier web application. This includes the design and implementation of the data models, APIs, and 3rd party integrations.

    Basic Qualifications

    You will need these every day.

    • 3+ years of Java. We're a Grails shop, so Java is essential. You can learn Grails quickly.
    • 3+ years building full-stack web apps. Grails or Play preferred, Rails or Django ok.
    • Database experience, at least 3+ years with an RDBMS (Postgres, MySQL, etc.)
    • Experience with a few modern front-end frameworks: Bootstrap/Foundation, Angular/Ember/React.
    • Modern Agile development best practices, specially TDD. Continuous integration.
    • Unix. You will need to know your away around a Unix box. We use Macs for development and deploy on Linux servers.
    • Development workflow tools; git, JIRA, Confluence, Stash.

    We are seeking an expert Back End API Developer to join our exciting game-changing start-up, initially on a Contract basis with further progression possible post-launch.

    Responsibilities

    In this Back End API Developer position, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the design, creation, testing, and maintenance of API-based and database-driven solutions that will drive a web application.

    We need your help with ingesting a wide variety of disparate data sources and formats, tracking their provenance and ranking data quality, before providing a concise and accurate output.

    We are working towards finalising our solution over the next few months, so there will be some ability to advise on best methods and contribute to our final application. There will also be a level of ad-hoc data transfer, translation and conversion from various formats, so it's perfect for a skilled lateral thinker.

    Basic Qualifications

    • 3+ years' experience with PostgreSQL (or equivalent)
    • 3+ years of professional programming experience in server-side programming
    •  3+ years of Javascript experience, preferably across vue.js, but any similar framework is fine
    • Excellent knowledge of the HTTP protocol and different authentication methods (HTTP auth, OAuth, etc.)
    • Strong in database development, architecture, mapping and optimisation
    • Strong in Web APIs, REST, SOA/Web services development
    • Experience in Grails

    We are seeking an expert Front End Developer to join our exciting game-changing start-up.

    Responsibilities

    The front-end developer will be working in a tightly-knit, fast moving agile development team of both front and backend developers, designers, business analysts and database engineers.

    This role requires someone with both curiosity about and passion for modern web development techniques and best practices.

    We're a product team building a consumer facing, big-data product with a rich UI component dealing with very interesting problems in the music space.

    A practical ability to think two steps ahead and identify best practice with the finished product in mind will be a valuable asset.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Knowledge of modern JavaScript; ES6+. A command of HTML5 stack as a platform in its own right. A good knowledge of modern EcmaScript design patterns, especially functional programming aspects, and knowledge of necessary tools to deliver modern JavaScript across browsers (Babel highly desirable.)
    • Modern Javascript stack, especially single-page application frameworks. We use Vue.js but React, Angular, Knockout, Mithril and Ember experience are also desirable.
    • Knowledge of JavaScript build, packaging and delivery tools. NPM, webpack, bower, grunt, etc.
    • Experience using cross-framework modern JavaScript via modern MV* frameworks.
    • Knowledge of HTML5, and modern CSS best practices. Ability to justify the use, and understand the misuse of modern templating frameworks (i.e. Bootstrap, Foundation, etc.)
    • Experience writing test-driven code. Unit, integration, functional and automated browser testing.
    • Ability to design your own JSON formats and use mocks when coding against a fast-moving API.
    • Knowledge of Unix command-line, ssh, security best practices, and some Unix admin.
    • Experience using version control software, especially git.
    • Working in an agile workflow environment using collaboration tools; Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket/Github/Gitlabs, Slack and other communication tools, to drive the project forward and work with the team in a tight communication loop.

    • Publically available code samples, especially in the context of collaborating on Open Source software. A github/bitbucket repo is better than a thousand words.

We use LinkedIn as our main CRM database to help identify and entice passive candidates. Many years of extensive (targeted) networking has allowed us to build up a powerful database of highly skilled individuals across the globe.

Advertising

We only advertise jobs on the Connect Digital website, our closed talent network, social networks and a few free job boards. We don't believe we're best supporting our clients by simply replicating their job ads on Seek.
